Maryland Professional Volunteer Corps (MPVC)

*Important - All Current MPVC Volunteers Please Read*

As noted in the recently distributed newsletter, the Maryland Professional Volunteer Corps (MPVC) has a new web-based volunteer management system that went "live" this past Monday, September 28. It is a vast improvement over what was available previously.

The new system is CORESTM (Community Response System) which allows volunteers to register on-line, providing contact information, professional skills and affiliations, training, availability and other pertinent information. CORESTM data is housed in a VERY secure server, access to individual volunteer information limited to the volunteer (password protected) and the system’s administrators.

As an active MPVC volunteer, you are respectfully being asked to "re-register" with the CORESTM system. The registration process should take approximately 30 minutes. It is critical that you do this as soon as possible so we maintain this important volunteer resource for Maryland’s residents.

The URL for the site is www.mdresponds.dhmh.maryland.gov

If you have any questions about this, please direct them to mpvc@dhmh.state.md.us or call Mark Bailey at 410-767-7772 or Jason Holderness at 410-767-0959.

Thank you again for your commitment to the MPVC and the residents of Maryland.

The Maryland Professional Volunteer Corps consists of health care and community professionals ready to assist with disaster and emergency recovery during a declared emergency situation. The MPVC is a Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) administered by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The MRC program coordinates the skills of practicing and retired physicians, nurses, other health professionals, and citizens who are eager to address their community's ongoing public health needs and to help during large-scale emergency situations.

MRC volunteers may deliver necessary public health services during a crisis, assist emergency response teams with victims, and provide care directly to those with less serious injuries and other health-related issues. MRC volunteers may also serve a vital role by assisting their communities with ongoing public health needs (e.g., immunizations, screenings, health and nutrition education, volunteering in community health centers and local hospitals).
